post Category: frames for glasses post Comments (3) postFebruary 20, 2009

I wear contacts, but need a new pair of glasses. My vision is absolutely TERRIBLE, so the lenses for my glasses will be really thick. Thick lenses (as I'm sure some of you know) make your eyes look really small. Is there a style of frame that will help minimize that effect and make my eyes look bigger (or closer to their actual size)?

This story is very interesting because I have a close friend who deals with the same thing. Except that with glasses or no glasses at all her eyes are huge. She has big eyes and she is beautiful. But then she also has bad visions and she is currently wearing glasses but she picked out one glass which is not the over sized ones. She chose the the ones that doesn't cover her eye lid and doesn't go over her eye brows but she has the one that are half the size of regular glasses. It's a Nine West prescription glass with two tone's on the side of the legs. So I would strongly suggest that you can try these types of glasses and see if it look is right for you. Whether you have a round face or narrow slimmed face the glasses with still look great on you, just give it a try.. Hope everything works well. God Bless.l

You should choose frames for your glasses by what suits the shape of your face the best. Also, see if you look better in silver, gold, etc. frames by your skin tone & hair color.

As far as minimizing the thickness of the lens, I think a small or medium frame would do better than a large frame. Large frames would really show the thick lens.

go with polycarbonate lenses, they're much thinner than a regular plastic lens. Then again, I'm kind of a freak, because I love that "coke bottle" look… I have about a -5 perscription and I like to go with the plastic frames because they hide a thick lens a little better than a wire or rimless frame. Good luck!
